This is pretty middle of the road
Synopsis
A couple discovers their jovial cab driver leads them down a remote, haunted road, revealing disturbing motives and his true intentions.. British indie horror can sometimes be a bit hit and miss.
Nick Frost plays his part well
Equal parts annoying, scary, intimidating, and delightful. Synnove Karlsen gives a good turn but he steals the show for me.
The film plays on classic haunted highway ghost stories and has some scary moments
Although the depth of Frost’s performance made me think, there’s an interesting angle about how vulnerable we really are in a cab driven by someone we know nothing about, but that’s not really the point of the story. There is a good use of light, with a considerable amount taking place in a single night in the dark and in a London cab.
Overall I thought it was average
A couple of well-delivered jump steers and some scary expressions by Frost give the film enough atmosphere to keep you engaged. My favorite part was the ending, which was a bit ambiguous and perhaps open to some interpretation. Charges.
