Synopsis
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, who have a long-standing rivalry, and their rivalry comes to a head. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner previously filmed at Chavenage House (The Priory in Rivals). The same filming location was also used to depict Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark. I laugh at some of the reviews, clearly from readers who take themselves too seriously. It’s a Jilly Cooper adaptation. This isn’t a show to intellectualise or moralise. It’s such great fun. The cast is wonderful. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. As is Taggies’ hair. But they work. Somehow. RCB will disappoint some people because of that. But Alex Hassell captures everything else about him. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is PERFECT as always. And Aidan Turner is simply wonderful, if a bit too young to play Declan. It wobbles a bit in the last third. But yeah. It’s fantastic fun. I watched it all at once.
